Experience Christmas

The story of the birth of Jesus is told in six tableaux, taking children though the stories of the Annunciation and the Journey to Egypt and culminating in the birth of Jesus, the Gift.

Every year at Christmas, Easter and Harvest, we open our churches for the local schools to come and experience a different way of looking at these events in our calendar. We have six interactive stations placed around the church. Individual classes are split into groups of five or six children and they go round the church to the various stations, where they will be invited to enter into the scene.

Children love to have hands on experience and many of the comments from children have been wonderful. One little boy of 9 asked if he could come the following year to Experience Christmas again. Others have produced wonderful prayers, drawings and memories. This is a wonderful way for children to explore the real meaning of Christmas, Easter and Harvest.

Experience Easter

Children learn the Easter story by re-enacting Palm Sunday, the Last Supper and other events and reflecting on the Resurrection through the tableau of the Empty Tomb.
